Transfer a domain

Already own a domain elsewhere? Move it here and manage it alongside everything else. Most extensions add a year to your registration when you transfer.

Enter the full domain, including the extension.

Before you start

Registries set these rules, not us — a transfer that breaks one is refused whoever you move to.

  1. Unlock the domain at your current registrar. Most lock domains by default to prevent unauthorised transfers.
  2. Get the authorisation code. Sometimes called an EPP code, auth code or transfer key. Your current registrar provides it, often by email.
  3. Check the contact email. The registry emails the domain's administrative contact to confirm the transfer, so that address needs to work. You may need to turn privacy protection off briefly.
  4. Wait out the 60-day rule. A domain registered or transferred in the last 60 days cannot be transferred again. This is an ICANN rule.

Transfer pricing

One payment covers the transfer. Where the registry adds a year, your expiry date moves forward by a year once the transfer completes.

How long it takes

Once you have paid, we submit the transfer and the registry takes over. Transfers normally complete in about five days.

Your current registrar will usually email you to approve it — approving is the fastest way to finish. If they refuse the transfer, your domain carries on working exactly as it does now and we will contact you.
